Hell I'm even starting to think inkscape is more versatile because they've got everything Affinity has, whilst remaining open source and free. Versatile file format/export options is one thing, but it's definitely outweighed by the fact that some extremely small inconveniences that shouldn't exist, do. This in itself is a major flaw for somebody looking for an extremely efficient workflow. Affinity really is worth the money in every way over the subscription-based model Adobe has with illustrator, but it's lacking on extremely key basic proprietary like Tileable pattern brushes and a properly inter-changeable/reversible studio-link system, etc. I've used affinity for nearly a decade now (ever since Photo was in Beta) and I'm glad I did. This uncertainty is something I really think Serif could improve on in the future, as a more efficient workflow can definitely be achieved, where I can layout/arrange everything regardless of if I have to convert it into a spread or not. As much as it's okay to do things that way as well, then recombine it in a different file, and scale it to the appropriate dimensions, I'm very unsure if it'll be the exact dimensions that I want. Here's the thing, even when I try to export the file, batch-exporting would only export all the pages as individual images. I seriously think that Serif should implement more updates tbh, because, at this point, I've run into so many inconveniences that I might as well pick up illustrator and pay the CC subscription fee. Since I've now got multiple spreads, I now want to put multiple spreads on one singular page, but it seems that it isn't even possible. Out of curiosity, I've read/found that it's apparently impossible to do, but if there's a way, please do tell me. I want to recover the previous artboard designer file if possible at all. The only thing that publisher allows me to do is to edit 1 single page whenever I click "edit in Designer" and it's definitely inconvenient considering I was working on an artboard document with around 15 artboards arranged so that I can still edit it at ease. So I'm currently making a set of business cards and I was planning on putting everything into a singular page PDF at 100% scale, but then I accidentally clicked "convert to spreads" and now I can't even open all of these pages/previously artboards in affinity altogether at once.
